I was in touch with Beacon in Ocean Shores and they picked up 19 grebes from the jetty yesterday -- transported them for care to a wildlife hospital. They will handle any grebe strandings in the nearby Ocean Shores area, but if the grebes are out of their zone, the birds would have to be brought to them for transport (to a wildlife facility). If you're in the Ocean Shores area and find ailing or stranded birds, you can call Beacon at 360-289-2752. As you may know, they're a pest control company but are filling a void by providing wildlife rescue and transport for injured animals (including marine mammals).
