Today at 3:50PM there was a juvenile RUFF at Nisqually NWR, Thurston County. I watched it for about an hour. The bird was behind the twin barns and across the trail, with BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS on the outgoing tide.

Other shorebirds include:
KILLDEER
DUNLIN
SANDERLING - 2 juv
WESTERN SANDPIPER
GREATER YELLOWLEGS
LESSER YELLOWLEGS
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER

I also saw a single VAUX'S SWIFT. My first October sighting for this bird in Washington.

And a late OSPREY. In addition, the GREAT EGRET made an appearance with a group of CANADA GEESE that included a few MINIMA CACKLING GEESE.
