Tweeters:

Unfortunately am forced to retract an earlier report of WW CROSSBILL
from Deer Park, CLALLAM, back on Sept 16 post to Tweeters. Although
I've heard/seen a number, I cannot exclude a Red based on some recent
recordings found on-line. This bird was heard-only, and although I
noted a north Cascades report the same week, the species is far less
regular in the high Olympics.

More recently, my friend Dann Oppfeldt saw 30 TURKEY VULTURES in a
kettle out near Discovery Bay, JEFFERSON, on Oct. 3.

Ryan's SKAGIT report this week includes a BW HAWK. K Tranh
had one in extreme e. Skagit also several years back, also in Sept., so it
seems SKAGIT CO is up to two records. Ryan's joins earlier posts from s.
Vancouver I. (early/mid Sept) and Nigel Ball's near Neah Bay Sept 15,
CLALLAM, and the Sept 19 bird that Greg Englin had from Myrtle Edwards
in Seattle, so it seems like a better-than-average fall for this species.
