Is there anything more satisfying than a good morning Bird Movement? While not on the scale of movements reported from Tenino, Magnusson Park, or the Fill, I experienced a very interesting mix of birds in my little yard habitat in urban North Everett.

Looking out the kitchen window first thing in the morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see a bright male Varied Thrush picking through the leaf litter on top of our carport roof. Then on another corner of the roof were 3 Sooty Fox Sparrows and 3 Golden -crown Sparrows. I've only seen single Fox's here, and very rarely, in the past ten years. The Golden-crowns were a new yard bird. Later I saw a total of six of them.

Another Varied Thrush showed up, both FOY, and early, for my yard, along with FOY Junco's and a single Hermit Thrush. A single Orange-crowned Warbler was the only warbler I've seen here this fall so far, and several Ruby-crowned Kinglets, an only occasional visitor here, were snooping around up in the dogwoods. It was a nice morning to be home.
