It was 40 degrees with a nippy wind on the Edmonds waterfront
(10-15-11) this morning. The tide was high. There were two loon fly-
bys, one Common and one Red-throated. Canada Geese were flying in the
distance. There were several large drifts of Surf Scoters. The one in
front of the public pier had about 100 hens and a couple of drakes.
Heermann's Gulls are still around in decent numbers. Other gulls were
Bonaparte's, Mew, and Glaucous-winged. It was a three grebe and three
alcid morning. There were Horned, Red-necked, and Western Grebes.
There were good numbers of Rhinoceros Auklets north of the ferry dock,
some Pigeon Guillemots, and three Common Murres. Both Pelagic and
Double-crested Cormorants were about.

High water in the Edmonds Marsh brought in American Wigeons, Gadwalls,
Northern Shovelers, Green-winged Teals, and Mallards. Several Great
Blue Herons were standing quietly. There were about 12-15 Killdeer.
Smaller birds included Anna's Hummingbird, Song Sparrow, Black-capped
Chickadee, and American Goldfinch. A Red-tailed Hawk was perched in a
tree along Edmonds Way, just uphill from Pine Street.

At my feeder this morning I had an FOS juvenile Golden-crowned
Sparrow. The Fox Sparrows shouldn't be too far behind.
