I'm always excited by the arrival of fall because it means there will be
lots more birds on the saltwater than we see in the summer. This afternoon,
however, we had an unusual passerine. One of four Dark-eyed Juncos
scratching around our yard was partially leucistic, if I have that right.
This bird appeared like an otherwise "normal" Oregon race female, except it
had a white "shawl." At the back, the lower edge of the hood was white, and
this stripe tapered around the sides until it essentially disappeared at the
front. I can send a not-so-good photo if anyone would like.

Good fall birding to you all.
