This morning (10-22-11) we saw five alcid species from the Edmonds
public pier: Pigeon Guillemot, Rhinoceros Auklet, Marbled Murrelet,
Ancient Murrelet, and Common Murre. On Wednesday (10-19-11) Dennis
Duffy one-upped that by seeing the above five plus one Cassin's Auklet
flying by a couple of hundred yards out.

This morning there were also five gull species. Heermann's Gulls
continue in fair numbers even though some have headed out on
migration. There were Bonaparte's Gulls, Mew Gulls, one California
Gull, and the resident Glaucous-winged Gulls. There were three grebe
species--Horned, Western, and Red-necked. We had one loon fly-by,
either Pacific or Common but it was far out and lighting conditions
were not optimal.
