I went to Sunset Avenue in Edmonds this afternoon (10-22-11) when
there was a break in the rain. The cloud ceiling had lifted a bit with
much better visibility than this morning. I was able to identify six
Black Scoter drakes at the tail of a drift of Surf Scoters at the
northwest corner of the dive park, north of the ferry dock. These
appear to be first of season for Edmonds. Last year we saw the first
on October 4th.
