Every birder has at least one nemesis bird. One of ours is the black-backed woodpecker. So, we noted with interest the sightings of several black-backed woodpeckers in the area of the Little Pend Oreille NWR. Northeast Washington is a part of the state that we are not familiar with. We are hoping for more specific information on the location of the birds. One tweet described sightings on Moran Creek Road and another stated that brids were 'off the Old Highway'. Can someone provide more detailed instructions? How far up Moran Creek Road from 395 for example? What 'Old Highway'? Also, I seem to recall mention of camping nearby. What is the name of the campground? Where is it located? Is it a National Forest campground, BLM, state DNR or ?

Thanks so much for your help. We'll see that bird yet!
