Hi Tweets,

We had good viewing conditions this morning (10-31-11) from the
Edmonds public pier. There was shimmering on the Kitsap side but most
birds were within the undistorted viewing field. We counted 9 Ancient
Murrelets, gobs of Rhinoceros Auklets, a fair number of Common Murres,
and some Pigeon Guillemots for a four-alcid morning. At one point a
bird was flying from the south toward us and then veered out and
touched down on the water, at least several hundred yards out. It was
a Long-tailed Duck. We saw one Pacific Loon and lots of Bonaparte's
and Heermann's Gulls.

Happy Halloween,

Carol Riddell
