Hello Tweeters,
I decided to bird on a late evening Tide at 3.21 PM 9.4 foot tide.I was
there already close at 12.00 PM ,and the Shorebirds
where already close at the Pilings.Nothing spectacular but close looks on
most birds.20 minutes to watch when this birds decided to flying away.
Short-billed Dowitchers 50 birds,Long-billed Dowitchers 15 birds,Western
Sandpipers200 birds.Black-bellied Plovers 75 birds
Least Sandpipers 2.For Bottle Beach this is so low on Species
Midway Beach was also not so productive.Red-necked Phalaropes increased to
7, with 11 Least Sandpipers,
Overhead flying 2 Turkey Vulture &1female Marsh Hawk.
Driving to Tokeland on North Cove the masses of Gulls was something to
see,it was hard to figure,but the whole beach was full of thousand's nothing
than Gulls,As always you looking in to the Sun,what is making it hard to ID
.It is not good for you EYES
to use any Optic looking direct in to the Sun.
Tokeland had few more birds nothing unusual,11 Willets close to the pilings
where all the many Heermann's Gull always roosting.1 Whimbrel on the Jetty
with a group of 75 Marbled Godwits,close to the water where a group of 50
Western Sandpipers,3 Blue Heron.
It looks that the Purple Martin leaving there Box soon,there are nesting
material hanging out.I saw the adult male going only 1 time in to the box.
It start getting windy and cold,start yet looking on the Westport Marina.
