It was a beautiful morning (9-3-11) to be out anywhere, except in a
backed-up ferry line. Much nicer to be checking out the denizens of
the Edmonds Marsh, the waterfront, the Willow Creek Hatchery, and
Point Edwards.

The Marsh offered 3 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 17 KILLDEER, 5 GREAT BLUE
HERONS, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, CROWS, BARN SWALLOWS, and a few
SAVANNAH SPARROWS and SONG SPARROWS. The best sighting was a SCRUB JAY
in the fir trees above Point Edwards, as seen through my scope from
the north side of the Marsh.

From the Public Pier we saw CALIFORNIA, GLAUCOUS-WINGED, and
HEERMANN'S GULLS, DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, a couple of RED-NECKED
PHALAROPES, and 1 PIGEON GUILLEMOT. No sign of grebes yet.

At the Hatchery and Point Edwards, we saw CANADA GEESE, MALLARDS, 2
OSPREY, 1 RED-TAILED HAWK, 1 ANNA's HUMMINGBIRD, 1 RED-BREASTED
SAPSUCKER, 2 NORTHERN FLICKERS, 3 STELLER'S JAYS, ROBINS, 7 CEDAR
WAXWINGS, SPOTTED TOHWEE, HOUSE FINCHES, and AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES.
