Hello Tweeters,

On a day trip to the coast, my highlight sightings were inside the Westport marina around 3:30 p.m. near high tide. I saw the two Bar-tailed Godwits reported earlier (I assume they are the same ones) The majority of the godwit flock was at the south end of the marina, on the rocky wall and grassy space above it. I saw one of the Bar-tailed there, standing apart from the others, about half way up the rocks, as luck would have it - great look in the bright sunshine.

A smaller part of the flock was on a rocky area below the barrier just north of the boat entrance to the marina. Because of the presence of a large ship at the end of the southernmost dock, this location was better viewed from the end of dock 17, 2 docks away. The other Bar-tailed was here, crowded in among other godwits and some Heerman's Gulls, A lot more reddish was the breast of this one, which mottled into white further down. It turned to the side before disappearing behind a cluster of gulls, and showed very white under the tail.

Also notable at MIdway Beach, in the two ponds divided by the trail to the beach, were three Red-necked Phalaropes and five Pectoral Sandpipers.
