I saw the female King Eider on Thursday, 9/1 at the line of pilings east of
the base of Damon Point....out where the Catala used to be. I walked from
the marina east along the south-facing beach, then zagged over to the road
and walked it to the end of the pavement. I saw the eider on my return trip,
nearing high tide...sat on a log and watched her for about 15 min hanging
with the scoters. Her brown plumage really stands out among the
black-plumaged scoters....and that facial profile is very distinct.
