hi:

i start by saying all shorebirds look alike to me. yesterday i saw three teeny birds at the end of march's point in or near anacortes. i assume they are western sandpipers, but the wings are pretty long and the bill doesn't look all that curved to me. those notions could be artifacts of my position whilst watching them as i was looking down at them from the shoulder of the road. will somebody who understands sandpipers tell me what's what? direct email is fine if you want to berate me for fishing for baird's, or a post to the list for the benefit of others is fine, too. broad shoulders come with the territory.
