Ibird Pro works for Droid phones too. I've enjoyed this app; the version I
purchased (in Feb 2011) does offer viewing of similar species.

Hi Michelle,

Depending on what phone you have, there are several excellent apps. I use
iBirdExplorer Pro for iPhone/iPod Touch and am very pleased with it. I find
the biggest drawback compared to using a book is that you can't just look at
a page of similar species.

Here's an online article to give you the lay of the land:
"The Best Smartphone Apps for Birders" (Feb. 21, 2011)
http://www.backyardchirper.com/blog/the-best-smartphone-apps-for-birders/

Having read too much about the negative impact of using bird recordings in
the field, I've sworn off using my app to call birds in, and would encourage
others, too, to use the apps only for identification and not for attracting
birds closer.

Having recently taken a drink from the "Smart" phone kool-aid stand....I'm
wondering if anyone has come across any useful and/or entertaining "apps"
for birders? Thanks!
