Hi All,

On my way home from work this afternoon, I noticed a nice sized flock
(100+) of Common Terns foraging at Murden Cove here on Bainbridge
Island. Murden Cove is a bay between Yeomalt Pt. and Skiff Pt. on the
east side of the island - roughly about a mile north of where the ferry
turns into Eagle Harbor for landing. I checked the flock for anything
other than Common's, but no such luck. I then noticed a handsome adult
jaeger sitting on the water not too far offshore from my vantage point.
Low and behold my first jaeger of the season here in Puget Sound turned
out to be a LONG-TAILED JAEGER with full length central tail feathers
in-place, and sticking-out 6"-8" past the primary tips. Way cool!

The Long-tail stuck around for about 10 minutes and then flew toward the
east. I stayed for a while longer and eventually had 4 adult and one
juvenile Parasitic Jaeger give the terns a once over.

It was nice to see a bit of activity out on the waters of Puget Sound.

Cheers and good birding,
Brad Waggoner
