Reading your story reminds me of all the great insect sounds I used to hear in Connecticut and Massachusetts. It's harder to take note of the absence of something than the presence of it; now that you remind me, it now occurs to me that these delightful night-time sounds of summer are entirely absent from here. Another thing I miss from the east is fireflies.
