Dear Tweeters,

The Northern Waterthrush was easy to find today (9-11-2011) at the Game Range on Fir Island. I walked about 100 meters past the camo blind on the old dike trail (not the new dike that goes off to the right and leads to the four ponds, but the old one that goes straight). The bird was on the right or northwestern (?) side of the dike, where it was last year.

Corkindale was quiet this morning, but there were singing Hammond's Flycatcher and Cassin's Vireo. I looked for seabirds all afternoon at Green Point and Samish Island; the "best" birds were my first Western Grebes of the fall, at Samish Island.

It was fun bumping repeatedly into Maxine Reid and Mike Bacon today at several birding spots. They saw a Green Heron at the Game Range, but I missed it.

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
