Generally rare west any time, and even a tad late now statewide, I was
surprised to find a male CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD perched on the deck feeder
Sunday (9/11) morning at 0645hrs. Seems to have been a one-visit wonder and a
FIRST for the yard list here but I didn't see him again after that. Still
plenty of Anna's around but all the Rufous that were regulars all summer
seem to be for the most part gone with the last sighting here on Friday
(9/09).

After that big and dramatic overnight 'pull-out' of what had been up to
20-30 Rufous that had piled up along the yard & garden feeder line back in
mid-August and for a couple weeks seemingly hell-bent to consume the sugar
market into oblivion, days since have continued to host a few daily. They
may not be completely done yet, but it's getting close and still time for a
migrant or two now and then that might happen by I suppose.
