I have to warn you that our experience with Close Scientific in 2007
was terrible. We had noticed a gritty sound when folding/unfolding
our Swift binoculars, and we requested a general cleaning and
adjustment. When we got the binoculars back, the gritty sound was
still there, with no explanatory note. There was excessive grease on
all the fittings, oozing out and attracting lots of dust balls. We
could see dirt particles on the inside surfaces of the lenses, and
what looked like a large drip of lubricant on either the inside glass
or prism. The exterior of the binoculars did not look as if it had
been cleaned at all. We refused the charges and, to their credit,
they didn't contest it. For just a little more money, we shipped the
binoculars to Swift, who did an excellent job.
