My Wife and I spent three days this week, Monday thru Wednesday, visiting sites from Lincoln City, OR to Crescent City, CA. The sky was gray, we never saw the sun at all. Also very little wind and mild surf made the scenery somewhat less than anticipated. And birding was slow. But the potential! It has got to be spectacular when it happens.

I didn?t even take the camera out the first day. Tuesday I was able to get a few photos, not very good ones, of Elegant Terns and Heerman?s Gulls at the mouth of the Rogue River. I had been told there were Jaeger?s there but didn?t see them.

The best was the short time I had at Crescent City on Wednesday morning. It started out foggy and misty but improved enough for a few good sightings and photos. I saw Black Phoebe flitting around like juncos and Black Oystercatchers, Black-crowned Night Heron and Wandering Tattler were quite common.

I have posted a photo of a lighthouse and one of the Black Phoebe. I will be a little slow but will post more photos over the next few days. Also I will have some comments on my current camera and lens combo, all positive. I will post a note when everything is up.
