hi tweeters- this is info for birding tulalip bay+ spit.-b/c i get so many ? about it--- take exit 199(marysville) west from I-5-- 5 miles to 64st. (lite )-+ turn left -1/4 mile , stop sign, left-onto MISSION BEACH ROAD--follow to the end--access is thru the mud bay or a private yard---parking along mission road is probably ok---the best time to check the spit is 8 ' tide or higher(also hardest time to walk thru the mud bay)---use DAIRIKI TIDE GUIDE/ same as everett.-----other ways to get to the spit are by kayak from the marina north of tul. bay-fee or walk from the mission beach access at the turn past the cemetary--all signs restrict access but i've never seen anyone towed there-mission beach side has good birds (seasonal)-up to 60 PIGEON GUILLEMOTS -nesting on the cliff-,loons, grebes, murrelets, marbled + rhinocerous auklets, diving ducks(last xmas bird count 63 species for the whole area) --it's always difficult for me to post b/c of the restricted access--so please us!
e your own judgement--neighbors there are us. empathetic to birders if you ask them--also today i went to the spit at 8 am + saw only 6 BLACK BELLIED PLOVERS.--it changes all the time.--- another good place(seasonal)-is the hatchery in the NW side of the bay---wood ducks, kingfishers ,etc---cheers , maxine reid
