When I went out to one of my transmitter sites in the farm country just outside of Fargo/Moorhead area I noticed a lot more sparrows than normal. We have had our first freeze this week with temps down into the mid 20s. I can say for certain that migration has definately taken off. I didn't have time to identify too may of the birds but I did see the northern race of the Savanna Sparrow. Very streaked breast. I hadn't seen it before. Also saw a squirrel scurry across the road from the corn field with half an ear in his mouth. Stocking up for the winter. More to come as I get out this weekend and try to ID some of the other sparrows.

Cheers and good birding.
