Hi All: On a morning field trip on Vashon Island (UPS Family Weekend) we saw horned, eared, red-necked and western grebes off Portage, Tramp Harbor. Surf and ww scoters were scattered at all four stops with 40+ in inner Quartermaster Harbor. Ospeys at two stops. There were jaegers on both crossing.

Later in the afternoon, I missed the black-tailed gull; it flew off 30 mins before I got to the log boom at 3 pm. Over to Pt Defiance (Dalco Overlook) and there were 100+ California gulls actively feeding below. Searched these but no black-tailed. There were 25+ common terns actively feeding accompanied at least three parastic jaegers (two light & one dark in view at one time). Jaegers moved around following the tern flock with some spectacular chases. An impressive number of rhino auklets were feeding in the same area as the gulls.

There were 25+ mew gulls roosting on the old Tahlequah dock at 6 pm. Only six Friday night and one on Thursday.
