As of 6:00 PM today, Saturday 9/17, the adult Black-tailed Gull on the log
booms in Commencement Bay, Tacoma, was seen resting by Ruth Sullivan, Guy
McWethy and me. This is the third day I gave seen it in the same vicinity of
the 90 degree corner of logs, closest to shore. It gas been within 2 to 3
logs south on the closest row of logs every day in the afternoon. My best
advice for anybody looking for this great bird, is to start at this corner,
scanning south (left) and look for a bird with darker mantle than the
California Gulls. It also has a dark nape with a lighter head and forehead,
almost like a halo. The legs are yellow and somewhat shorter and the bill is
longer. It appears that it will be sticking around for awhile, if somebody
wants to chase it.

Good Birding!
