Tweets - Washtucna was somewhat lively this morning, starting with at least
2 GREAT HORNED OWLS at 6:00 a.m. Once the sun came up, there were lots of
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS, but
nothing too rare. Did have OLIVE-SIDED, HAMMOND'S, and GRAY FLYCATCHERS,
and small flocks of TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES. Other birds seen included BARN
OWL, SAY'S PHOEBE, CASSIN'S and WARBLING VIREOS, ORANGE-CROWNED, YELLOW,
TOWNSEND'S, and WILSON'S WARBLERS, WESTERN TANAGER, and LINCOLN'S SPARROW.
Keith Brady was there and reported a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT.

Terry Little showed up too, and he inspired me to run up to Sprague Lake,
where I did find an adult SABINE'S GULL on the Adams County side (couldn't
find one at the other end of the lake though). He had also reported a
Winter Wren in Ralston which I couldn't find, but I did find a VARIED THRUSH
there.

I made the briefest of stops at Lyon's Ferry in the afternoon (as the
weather turned windy with a few raindrops), where there was a SHARP-SHINNED
HAWK and an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER.

At the pond accessible from Lyon's Ferry Marina in Columbia County, there
were two NORTHERN SHOVELER. Out at the end of the road past Little Goose
Dam were a couple of GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS in with bunches of
White-crowns.

I then drove Riveria Rd., and found a SAGE THRASHER, which I believe is a
Columbia County first.

Finally, as daylight faded, I made a stop at Lewis & Clark Trail State Park
west of Dayton, and tracked down a GRAY FLYCATCHER that was "whitting"
incessantly.

So, a pretty good day.
