My decision to try Commencement Bay once more for
the Black Tailed Gull was rewarded with success
this afternoon around 2:30. Worth the third
effort. A number of viewers who were also great
"finders". The light was iffy which may have been
a partial explanation for the mantle being less
differentiated than expected and the bird was
quite immobile but enough movement and good light
at moments to pick up the black tail with white
terminal band, the pale forehead and even the red
tip beyond the black on the bill. The great
length of the wings was also very noticeable...at
least once the bird was found.
