Hi All,

The satellite -tagged migrant tundra bird I posted about a few days ago
has already crossed into the US and last night (Sunday night) slept, believe
it or not, right on the roof of the State Capitol Building in downtown
Springfield, Illinois.

To have a look, go to www.frg.org, click on Southern Cross Peregrine
Project, Tracking Maps, Island Girl and scroll down to her map. Center the
last blue dot (her roosting site at midnight) and zoom in using the zoom
buttons on the top left of the screen (drag the blue dot so you don't lose
it as you drill down). To get a Google Earth picture, click on the map type
button in the upper right corner of the map page. Select Hybrid. If you do
it right, the building will fill your map screen.

This is one of the best examples of what the GPS satellite technology can
do these days. It constantly amazes me.
