Subject: [Tweeters] black-tailed gull rfi

I looked for it at about 4:30 pm this afternoon and did not find it. The
tide was very high and the water was somewhat choppy with not that many
gulls on the logs. The light in the late afternoon is not very good, since
you will be looking directly into the sun.
I did find it yesterday at 12:45 pm in the pouring rain. My suggestion would
be to come out about the middle of the day or early afternoon. It has also
been seen early in the morning, but it does feed out in Commencement Bay
sometime in the morning. It still seems to prefer the logs closest to the
overlook and sometimes between the rust ball and the 90 degree corner. The
Franklin's is more likely to be on the other logs, about one third back from
the rusty object at the end -if- there are Bonaparte's around.

Good Luck and Good Birding!
