Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 29. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On September 23 a BROAD-WINGED HAWK was among the many hawks flying past the
Green Ridge Hawkwatch Station near Camp Sherman. A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER
was at Benson Pond in Malheur NWR September 25.

A major flight of WHITE-FRONTED and CACKLING GEESE was reported during the
week. TURKEY VULTURE, swallow, and warbler
Movements were also conspicuous.

On September 24 an offshore boat trip out of Newport found many SOOTY
SHEARWATERS and five SKUAS. Three RUDDY TURNSTONES were at Bandon September
23. A STILT SANDPIPER was among many shorebirds on the North Jetty of Coos
Bay September 27. A flock of 55 WESTERN BLUEBIRDS was near Toledo September
21. Single SABINE?S GULLS were at Newport September 24 and at the South
Jetty of the Columbia River September 27.

On September 24 a PALM WARBLER was at Oak Island on Sauvie Island. A flock
of 325 WHITE PELICANS were at the Smith/Bybee Lakes September 25. On
September 28 a SWAINSON?S HAWK passed over northwest Portland. A SOLITARY
SANDPIPER and a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK were at the Fernhill Wetlands September
21.

On September 25 two BLACK SWIFTS passed the Green Ridge Hawk Watch Station.
An adult female GREATER SCAUP was seen September 26 at Pine Hollow Reservoir
near Wamic. On September 23 a flock of 3000 BARN SWALLOWS was near the
Malheur Field Station.
