Good Morning All,

I just came across an add in one of the many birding magazines we receive monthly that I want to share with you. The add is for an electronic system called the ZEN-Dialectica AMBO 300 by Sunsung Inc.. This amazing system has a platform containing a GPS, 8MP Camera and an avian recall unit that contains 423 North American bird species songs north of Mexico. How it apparently works is that once it is "initiated" or turned on the GPS determines your location, "prepares" an internal list of species in your area. Then it selects the dialects of the species songs for that site. It will then play for 15 seconds any species you choose. It has the ability to compare and contrast the same avian species songs with different dialects from widely separated regions. It has photo recognition of species and once the camera takes an image the ZEN-Dialectica AMBO 300 will produce the correct dialect of that species from the area you took the image. Really something, what will they think up next?

One other note, Friends of ours were up in Okanogan County birding this weekend and on Big Soap Lake they observed a territorial pair of Surf Scoters. This is a large saline lake that looks ideal for Surf Scoters. These big sea ducks are really something to find way out in this isolated lake. Please don't pull a leg getting out there.
