Hello Tweeters,
We spent the late morning checking out Juanita Bay Park. Just before the covered bridge area on the causeway, we had great looks at two Red-breasted Sapsuckers. The are some small trees on the right just before the covered area that are full of sapsucker holes. We saw one of the birds at the holes, this seems like it would be a good place to look for them, the holes look very fresh.
There were three Wilson's Snipe on the mud beach at the far end of the causeway. We saw a female Rufous Hummingbird along the way. We heard about 7 or 8 Virgina Rails calling from the swampy areas. Ruby-crowned Kinglets were singing in the wooded areas. A couple of Wood Ducks, a lone Western Grebe and some "Violent" Green Swallows helped make the walk enjoyable. Some sun also helped a lot.
