hi all ... having bombed out on the Troutdale (Oregon) Loggerhead Shrike
and Say's Phoebe, Gene and I decided to head over to Steigerwald Lake NWR
and look for the Say's Phoebes which have been seen there ... and we were
in luck !!! ... we had the first one in that field across from Red-tail
Lake just after crossing that last bridge ... we then went up on the dike
and walked down towards the gourds ... no Phoebe ... we went a bit further
and still no Phoebe ... no Mountain Bluebirds either ... on the way back
however we were in luck !!! ... a beautiful Say's Phoebe on the fenceline
...

then, as an added attraction, we had a Peregrine ... first saw him up near
the parking lot harassing the Harriers ... then we had him (or a different
one) down near the dike harrassing the ducks on Red-tail Lake ...

had both mature and adult Bald Eagles ... they kept the THOUSANDS of geese
in a state of panic ...

usual ducks on the lakes ... small tweeties included Marsh Wrens,
Ruby-Crowns, and Yellow-rumps ...
