Reading about the crazy Junco made me want to share the story of of our own crazy Song Sparrow. He started out on my car's side view mirrors, I would find the telltale evidence each morning. Then, one day when I returned home, I pulled into the driveway, put the car in park and immediately the sparrow jumped onto my driver side mirror before I had even gotten out of the car. He had been waiting for me! I waved him away from in the car and he promptly moved to the other mirror! I began parking my car in another area so now he attacks my husband's truck. His truck has a lot of chrome...a lot of really shiny chrome and this poor psycho sparrow spends all day jumping up to peck at himself in the bumper, the headlight trim, the running boards and the center of the wheels. He jumps up about 2 feet every time over and over and over, hundreds, thousands of times! He expends an amazing amount of energy fighting himself and yesterday I felt so bad for him, I covered up the front of the truck with a sheet. Of course it didn't work as he simply moved to the back.
