Tweets,
Many years ago, perhaps 15?, a tote containing wallet (and lunch!) was
stolen from my van in the parking area at the foot of the walk along the top
of the sewage pipe at Iona, Sea Island, BC. In retrospect, I remembered a
woman near my vehicle positioned to see in the sliding door. She was in an
official looking outfit complete with arm insignia that had a clipboard and
walkie talkie, who looked to be taking notes on something. Yeah, notes on
how many bags were left in my van when we left to obviously take the 1-2
hour walk on the causeway. There had been immediate charges on the credit
card in nearby stores. The biggest loss to me was some old records of
previous bird trips in one of the bags.

In another incident, some 25(?) years ago, my wallet was stolen from my van.
I had secreted it under the seat right before we left on a hike from
Chuckanut Drive, outside of Bellingham. Again, in retrospect, I remembered
2 men in a vehicle parked across the road with the front of the vehicle
facing the parking area.

Now when I am going to leave my vehicle I carry everything of value, and I
carefully look around for anyone who seems they could be watching vehicles.

Hi Tweeters -

A woman I know just went to Boundary Bay to see the Snowies and credit cards
were stolen - apparently in parking lot there. She went directly home from
there.

Cautionary tale - Be sure not to leave valuables (as if you needed a
warning) - but birders may be being targeted. If you do leave anything in
your car - be sure to check that all is in place before you leave. Sometimes
things are left "just as they were" to appear "normal" until you are home or
far enough away not to notice. There had been some attempted charges in
stores in BC on her cards.

Just a friendly reminder. Those Snowies have quite a racket going on!! :)
