Once again, am setting up housekeeping at P Ranch, for 6 weeks, to help with bird counts (Malheur Refuge). Scouting conditions for trips for birding festival, and dealing with some of the old vehicles after winter's storage. P Ranch has its usual vulture gang, a few snipe choosing their favorite fence posts, flickers in drum mode, the Canada goose pair atop the old chimney, some Sandhills courting, kestrels (and starlings) checking the cavities, and at least some of the barn owl family in one of the cottonwoods by the house (although Clarice found a complete set of barn owl primaries and accompanying coverts between the house and the long barn, pulled as one would suspect from bird predation, such as great horned, but we have not seen or heard any of those so far).

Spring, last evening 50 degrees with lovely sunset, this morning 2 inches of snow. When road clears will be getting count route instructions at HQ, and will start looking for large waders pairing off (flocks of curlews arriving now). Will report when seeing something new, and will try getting some pictures from this IPad to Facebook. Cheers.
