I got a call from Ollie Oliver today, saying there was a SAY'S PHOEBE at
Marymoor (Redmond, King Co., WA) - the park's second of the spring. It
took me a while to get down to the park, and then even longer to find the
phoebe, but I did finally see it at the model airplane field at around 2
p.m.

As Ollie also noted, there was a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE in a flock of
about 80 CACKLING GEESE on the grass in the NE corner of the park (near the
baseball fields). This is the first time we've had a White-front in April
(though Evan Houston reported a flock of ~200 on MAY 2, 2010!). We've had
only 3 March sightings, so this one today is definitely late.

The CACKLERS were also of interest, as they were mostly NOT of the minima
subspecies that we usually get. And Cacklers are also very uncommon in
April at Marymoor.

Other birds of interest today:

2 gorgeous RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS in the trees where the Marymoor Connector
Trail heads out of the park east of the model airplane field (along with a
BROWN CREEPER there too), a WESTERN MEADOWLARK at the model airplane field,
and an AMERICAN GOLDFINCH male in almost perfect breeding plumage.

I did not see either of the two OSPREY that I saw there yesterday evening.
