Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 5. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

Strong storms during the week brought many RED PHALAROPES to the beaches and
about 100 to the Sheridan Sewage Ponds. Migrant BRANT are now at coastal
estuaries.

A few migrant YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, NASHVILLE
WARBLERS, and YELLOWTHROATS were reported during the week as well as some
CLIFF and ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS.

On March 28 eight RUDDY TURNSTONES were at Chetco Point in Brookings. On
April 1 nine BROWN PELICANS and ten CASPIAN TERNS were at Coos Bay. A
breeding plumaged SABINE?S GULL was at Yaquina Bay March 30.

A LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE, SAGE THRASHER, CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, and a SAY?S PHOEBE
were along Swigert Road near the Troutdale Airport during the week. On April
4 a FERRUGINOUS HAWK flew over the area.

On March 30 two MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were at Powell Butte Park in Gresham. Two
YELLOW WARBLERS were reported April 3 at the Tualatin NWR. The MOCKINGBIRD
at Alvadore continues and is now singing. A WESTERN KINGBIRD was seen April
2 at Winston, south of Roseburg. A BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was in Medford
April 4.

On March 31 a LONG-BILLED CURLEW was in Crook County near Houston Lake. A
very early CASSIN?S VIREO was reported April 3 in Bend. The Summer Lake
HARRIS?S SPARROW continues to be seen. On March 28 over 1000 EARED GREBES
and several thousand SHOVELERS were on Lake Abert. A GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL
was at the Narrows at Malheur NWR March 30. Two CASPIAN TERNS were there the
next day.

The expected wintering birds continue in Wallowa County. A LONG-BILLED
CURLEW was near Enterprise March 28.
