The two Emperor Geese are still present in Dungeness Bay, feeding today (4/5/12) off the mouth of the Dungeness River near a big group of Brant.

Olympic BirdFest, held last weekend, looks like it ended up with a total of 117 different species on its field trips, including the Emperor Geese. Second most interesting species may have been one Pine Grosbeak at San Juan Island, seen by our San Juan Island cruisers early Monday morning, 4/2/12. Otherwise a lovely assortment of coastal waterbirds, early spring migrants, and winter holdovers. The weather wasn't particularly cooperative, with wind and rain at times, but all field trips went as planned. Look for next years festival on the first full week of April, 2013.
