My wife and I have lived at Lake Joy since 1988 and have recorded various events including wildlife sightings.? Easter morning (yesterday) we made the earliest sighting of a goldfinch during that time period.? The goldfinch was in the tree where we hang our thistle feeder, which I promptly hung.? Also, this past week we had our first Rufous Hummingbird sighting for the year.? I think that they have been around for a little while, but really couldn't get a good look until Saturday.? This past week we also had a visitor that we needed help identifying.? We sent a photo to two more experienced birders and they both stated that it was a Varied Thrush.? We have seen many Varied Thrush over the years here including one the prior week, but none that looked like this.? It was yellowish and pale.? Our photo isn't the greatest, but the color looked quite yellow through the binocs.?
