Hi Tweeters:
I visited the S 204th St seasonal pond south of 204th, and the "enhanced" area to the north of 204th mid-day today, Wed, Apr 11. Weather was drizzly, cool, and there was a breeze. There were 4 Greater Yellowlegs, and 5 BLK-BELLIED PLOVERS. Some of these 5 were going into breeding plumage. Still many Green-winged Teal (more than 150), a few Gadwall, and a couple of Mallards. There were 14 Amer. Wigeon. An Or-crnd. Warbler sang by the mailbox corner. A Common Yellowthroat perched up and sang along the road.
I visited the area 2 days ago on Mon, and the Blk-bellies weren't there then. On Mon, there were 14 Greater Yellowlegs, an adult Bald Eagle, a juv Bald Eagle, and an adult Red-tailed Hawk. The ducks and shorebirds ignored the hawk, but got up when either eagle was in the area.
The 204th area is in north Kent, near Boeing Ponds. Directions are on www.rainieraudubon.org. Click on "Going Birding?"
