A birder who wished to remain unidentified, stopped by the Steigerwald Lake NWR, in Clark County, yesterday late morning and saw a few birds of interest, The biggest surprise being a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE in the SW corner by the long metal barns along the Dike Trail. This is the same location where there was a SAGE THRASHER last week. This is the best period to find east of the Cascades breeding species on the refuge, there are prior records of American Avocet, Black-necked Stilt, Burrowing Owl, Gray Flycatcher, and Brewer's Sparrow.
