I have been playing catch-up on tweeters and saw a post about most of the
Snowy Owls migrating but still a couple of "starving owls" still present. My
questions is how does one know that they are starving and if it really is
the case can they be caught and rehabbed at a raptor center? I know that
someone did find one a while back and the Fish and Wildlife folks were able
to capture it and last I heard it was recovering.

Another question that my husband and I had regarding determination to shoot
Barred Owls because they are over-running the Spotted Owls. I have heard
that Spotted and Barred Owls are interbreeding. I have not seen any
information about whether this is true or not..but what-ever happened to
survival of the fittest? Who is going to shoot them, where are they going
to do this, how do they determine how many to shoot and how do they
determine if there are even Spotted Owls in an area where Barred Owls
are.and if the two are in the same area do they just assume that the Barred
owl by its very presence is therefore competing with the Spotted Owl and
therefore will be shot?

Haven't seen anything posted about this stuff and the wonderful teacher that
always answered our questions retired and we haven't seen him in awhile..(we
miss you Bob ;--))

Thanks for your thoughts
