Some of you may be old enough to remember an old disco tune?from the 70's, "Shake Your Groove Thing."?? For my friend Terry and me, it was "Shake Your Grebe Thing" Saturday afternoon at Olympic Beach in Edmonds, located between the marina and the ferry dock.???

Three horned grebes in full mating plumage were swimming furiously under water.??? A band of thousands of?small, minnow-like ?fish stretched about?ten yards in the water parallel to?the beach.?? We assumed the grebes were diving for those fish.???Weather and water conditions were perfect for photographing the gebes with our big honkin' lenses as they swam underwater.?? We were?surprised at how?fast they can swim.
