Hi Liz,
I stopped at the usual spot at the end of 72nd St on my way home from
Salt Spring Island last night. My wife was very eager to get home so I
only didn't walk much of the trail, but there were still 4 owls
visible through my spotting scope near sunset. They were all at least
100 yards out though, so it may be difficult to get enough detail to
sketch even with a spotting scope unless you are able/willing (legally
as well as physically, I don't recall the rules at Boundary Bay, but I
know it was discussed here) to venture out into the fields. It's also
possible that they spend each day at a different place and could start
each day closer to the trail.

Also present were 2 Short-Eared Owls hunting in the fields north of
the trail as well as several Northern Harriers doing the same.
Additionally, there appeared to be several hundred Brant north of the
road into the Tsawwassen ferry terminal and a large Heronry in the
trees south of the same road.
