Tweeters and Inlanders,
Yesterday, Tina and I birded in Columbia County. Our birding karma from
Saturday didn't abandon us. We found some very good birds for the county:
Tree Swallow (3) - 1 at Eckler Mountain Road and Crall Hollow Road, and 2 at
Eckler Mountain and Malcom Grade In both locations they were competing with
a pair of Bluebirds for a next box. I think that this doubled the number of
Tree Swallow that we've seen in Columbia County.
Pine Grosbeak (1) - snow park lot at Skyline and Maloney Mountain Road
White-Breasted Nuthatch (1) -- snow park lot at Skyline and Maloney Mountain
Road
Lesser Goldfinch (1) - Little Goose Dam in the trees above the restrooms by
the visitor center Thanks Gary!
On the way home we made a very brief stop at Washtucna. It was pretty quiet
late in the day. We did find a single Wilson's Snipe in the park by the
stream.
We were unable to find the Texas Rapids / Rivera Road Ferruginous Hawk
reported by Mark Crawford and Gary Bletsch the previous two weekends.
Good Birding!
Rick
