Dear Tweeters,

After a dilatory start, I birded Corkindale today (22 April 2012). A SAY'S PHOEBE on the south side, near the gravel road and parking spot, was the bird of the day. There were lots of White-crowned and Savannah Sparrows on the south side, and a few singing Lincoln's. It was nice to see a Western Meadowlard there, too.

The north side of Corkindale was very, very quiet--almost quiet enough for wabbit hunting.

A phone call from a friend downriver persuaded me to turn around and race westwards, but I was unable to find the subject of the phone conversation, a small flock of Whimbrel on the Dahlstedt Road on Butler Flats. However, I was happy to see a pair of Cinnamon Teal at the Green Road Pond.

On my way home, I visited the Burmaster Road on Minkler Flats. a WESTERN KINGBIRD on the east end of the road was a surprise. At the big ponds by the power-line crossing and poultry farm was another pair of Cinnamon Teal, plus a half-dozen or so Greater Yellowlegs.
