I was able to enjoy an amazing bike ride out on the Centennial Trail today
with a group of birding friends. At the end of our ride (just north of the
Pilchuck Trailhead) we were pleasantly entertained by a female Northern
harrier riding a small thermal above one of the fields. At first, it was
nice to just watch her maneuver her way around and then we were delighted
when she took a dive into the field. We waited 10-20 seconds and out she
flew with a vole (or some other similar small rodent.) What an amazing end
to an already amazing birding day along the trail!
