Delia and I got to Lake Sammamish State Park this am at 7:40 and left four hours later, just as the smell of lighter fluid began to waft throught?the air.

We took 13,100 steps apiece so our birds-per-step was 1 per 225 with one new bird every 4.13 minutes.?? Lake Sammamish is really a good place for birds.

At one point Delia made the understatement, "Gee, there are a lot of Yellow-rumped Warblers here."? Also, we were relieved to have decent?presence?of Rufous Hummers in the Salmonberry areas and good numbers of Tree Swallows fighting over nest-sites.? Here's the list:

23. COMMON RAVEN? 2 seperate flyovers.? Didn't seem unusual at all but either bookeeping error or something because it wasn't on our life list for the park.

27. NASHVILLE WARBLER??? One brightly colored male

29. Bald Eagle????? A young likely female dove repeatedly at two Common Mergansers; we thought she was just playing because she never got close to them and they barely paid attention.

Here on Beacon Hill, we've only had one?Orange-crowned Warbler so far at our recirculating creek.? Our Violet-green Swallows have taken possession of a box but have not begun building a nest.
